Two single-file PHP pages - a maintenance page with a real 503 response and an IP bypass list, and a pre-launch coming soon page - both dark-themed and ready to drop in.
Demo
Open either page directly to see it in action.
Screenshot
A screenshot will be added here soon.
What's included
- Real 503 response -
maintenance.phpsends503 Service Unavailablewith aRetry-Afterheader, so search engines treat the downtime as temporary instead of dropping pages from the index. - IP bypass list - an optional array of IPs that skip the maintenance page entirely, for testing the live site while it's down for everyone else.
- noindex on both pages -
X-Robots-Tag: noindex, nofollowso neither placeholder gets indexed while it's live. - Dark theme, single file - inline styles, no external stylesheet, no build step, no dependencies beyond Google Fonts.
- Config-driven text - headline, message, and (for the maintenance page) ETA are all easy to find and edit.
- Responsive - the card and type scale down cleanly on mobile.
Usage
// maintenance.php
$maintenance_bypass_ips = [
// '123.123.123.123',
];
header('Retry-After: 3600'); // seconds until back online
// coming-soon.php
$comingSoonConfig = [
'headline' => 'Something great is coming',
'message' => 'We're working hard behind the scenes...',
];
To actually take a site offline, route requests to maintenance.php at the server level (rename it to index.php behind a rewrite rule, or use your host's maintenance-mode setting) rather than just linking to it.
